Sources: Bower gets Suns front-office VP job

NBA

Former New Orleans and Detroit general manager Jeff Bower has agreed to a deal to become the senior vice president of basketball operations with the Phoenix Suns, league sources told ESPN.

Bower, 57, will work in a reshaped front office with general manager James Jones.

The Suns had a 19-63 record this season, but they have a promising nucleus of young players that includes Devin Booker and rookie center Deandre Ayton. Coach Igor Kokoskov completed his first season on the job.

Bower was the Pistons’ general manager under president of basketball operations and coach Stan Van Gundy for four seasons until a change was made a year ago.

Bower also worked in the NBA and college as a coach.
