A high-profile featherweight fight has been added to UFC 237.

The UFC has booked Jose Aldo vs. Alexander Volkanovski for the May 11 card in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, sources told ESPN. The promotion is expected to announce the fight shortly.

MMA journalist Farah Hannoun first reported the matchup Monday.

Volkanovski (19-1) asked to fight either featherweight champion Max Holloway or former champion Aldo following his win over Chad Mendes in December. The Australian-born Volkanovski has won 16 in a row overall and is a perfect 6-0 in the UFC. A win over Aldo would certainly cement his status as the No. 1 featherweight contender.

Aldo (28-4), considered by most pundits as the greatest 145-pound champion of all-time, has won his last two in a row. He most recently defeated Renato Moicano last month. Prior to that win, he stopped Jeremy Stephens in July.

The event, which will take place at Jeunesse Arena, is currently slated to be headlined by strawweight champion Rose Namajunas vs. Jessica Andrade.
