England’s Lawes out of Six Nations

England lock Courtney Lawes has been ruled out of the rest of the Six Nations after suffering a calf strain against Wales Saturday.

Lawes had to be helped off the field in the closing stages of England’s 21-13 defeat in Cardiff and is expected to be out of action for at least four weeks after having an MRI scan.

It means Lawes will miss fixtures against Italy and Scotland at Twickenham.

The Northampton man won his 71st cap for his country with his appearance at the Principality Stadium.

The news comes after Dylan Hartley was ruled out of the remainder of the competition after it was announced he would undergo knee surgery on Tuesday.

Hartley has not played for England since November, and will now be ruled out for the next 12 weeks.
