Green’s ankle sprain not believed to be serious

NBA

OAKLAND, Calif. — Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green left Saturday night’s 118-112 loss to the Houston Rockets with a left ankle sprain and did not return.

Green’s injury came with 8 minutes, 56 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter after he landed awkwardly on teammate DeMarcus Cousins‘ foot. Green hobbled toward the Warriors’ bench, staying on the ground for a few moments while being checked out by the team’s medical staff.

He eventually made his way back to the locker room, moving gingerly as Dr. Rick Celebrini, the Warriors’ director of sports medicine and performance, followed behind him.

“I don’t think it’s a really serious injury but we’ll have an update tomorrow,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after the game.

Green finished the night with 4 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists in 24 minutes.

The Warriors begin a four-game road trip Monday night against the Charlotte Hornets.
