Ireland’s Toner to miss the rest of Six Nations

Ireland lock Devin Toner will miss the rest of the Six Nations after undergoing ankle surgery, according to numerous reports on Friday.

Toner was forced off during the second half of Ireland’s opening Six Nations defeat to England last weekend and had already been ruled out of the match against Scotland on Saturday.

The injury is likely to sideline Toner until the end of March, making him a doubt for Leinster’s Champions Cup quarterfinal against Ulster on Mar. 30.

Defending Six Nations champions Ireland are also without Garry Ringrose and CJ Stander for the trip to Murrayfield.

Chris Farrell, Sean O’Brien and Jack Conan have been handed starts by head coach Joe Schmidt while Quinn Roux replaces Toner in the second row.
