It proved a tough weekend to turn a profit in the Premier League with several shock results. Attention now switches to the Champions League and all eyes will be on Old Trafford as Cristiano Ronaldo returns to Manchester United with Juventus.

The Banker
Jose Mourinho faces another huge test on Tuesday against Juventus. The visitors from Turin sit top of Group H after winning their first two matches, while the Red Devils dropped points in drawing 0-0 with Valencia last time out. It will be interesting to see how Mourinho sends his team out against Juve, as in each of United’s last two matches they’ve started to play well only after falling behind. If they concede early against Juve though it could prove a long night, as the Old Lady are masters of game management and 7/5 looks appealing here about an away win.
Selection: £5 on Juventus to win at 7/5 with bet365.
The Tasty Treble
Manchester City looked excellent as they smashed five without reply past Burnley at the weekend and they look a decent bet at 10/11 to beat Shakhtar Donetsk by more than one goal on Tuesday. Pep Guardiola’s side will always score goals but have also looked very assured defensively in recent weeks and should record a routine win in Eastern Europe. Elsewhere, 4/6 looks a gift about both teams scoring in the game between Club Brugge and Monaco. The Belgian side have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last 12 home Champions League matches, a run dating back to September 2002. Finally, Paris Saint-Germain (2/5) should have enough to get past Napoli. Kylian Mbappe starred as PSG beat Amiens at the weekend and the French champions need a victory in Group C.
Selection: £3 on the treble at 3.45/1 with bet365.

The First Goal Flutter
Ronaldo is back at Old Trafford but the big question is can their defence — out of sorts for the most part this season — stop the Portuguese superstar from scoring? Ronaldo of course was top scorer in the Champions League last season and having scored in each of his last two matches for Juventus he’s certainly the player the bookies fear most. He’s priced up at 100/30 to score first and could prove too lively.
Selection: £3 on Ronaldo to score first at 100/30 with bet365.
The Euro wager
PSV Eindhoven are, along with PSG, one of the last two teams to have won every one of their games in a major league, and coach Mark van Bommel appears to have assembled a very talented side who will be relishing the visit of Tottenham on Wednesday. Spurs’ recent form has been decent but this PSV side have been scoring goals for fun and they look a big price at 11/4 to win on home turf.
Selection: £2 on PSV Eindhoven to beat Tottenham at 11/4 with bet365.
The Wildcard Tip
Despite their iffy recent form, Real Madrid have been chalked up at 1/14 to see off Viktoria Plzen this week. Los Blancos have lost three matches in a row — and four of their last five — a run that could cost coach Julen Lopetegui his job. Nobody expects the Czech side, who have been priced up at 33/1, to win at the Bernebeu, but they could keep the scoreline respectable and could be worth a punt on the handicaps.
Selection: £1 on Viktoria Plzen (+2) to win at 3/1 with bet365.
