Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to field first in the second ODI in Dambulla, after the toss was conducted beneath blue skies, in bright sunshine.

With only 15 overs of play having been possible on Wednesday, neither team opted to change their XI. England will field two frontline spinners in Adil Rashid and Liam Dawson, in addition to offspinning allrounder Moeen Ali. There is no room for the Curran brothers.

Sri Lanka have Akila Dananjaya and Lakshan Sandakan as their frontline slow bowlers, with Nuwan Pradeep, Lasith Malinga and Thisara Perera expected to deliver the bulk of the seam-bowling overs.

There is a chance of showers later in the day.
