Paris Saint-Germain have Kylian Mbappe, Timothy Weah in squad for Nice

With Neymar and Kylian Mbappe watching from the stands, Paris Saint-Germain cruised to a simple win over Saint-Etienne at the Parc des Princes.
The FC crew take a gander at the short list released for FIFA’s Best Men’s Player award and debate whether Neymar should’ve been among the nominees.

Paris Saint-Germain will have Kylian Mbappe and Timothy Weah back in the squad for their match away to Nice in Ligue 1 on Saturday, according to the club.

Mbappe, 19, was shown his first career red card towards the end of a 4-2 win away at Nimes before the most recent international break and had an appeal to shorten his three-match ban rejected.

The World Cup winner has now served the suspension he was handed by the French league, which was then upheld by the French Football Federation, and PSG coach Thomas Tuchel already confirmed in his Friday prematch news conference that Mbappe will play in Nice.

Joining the Frenchman back in PSG’s senior setup is U.S. international Weah, who has been missing since the 3-1 win away at Guingamp back in August.

The 18-year-old has two goals from three competitive appearances so far this season after scoring against Monaco in the Trophee des Champions and Caen in Ligue 1.

Adrien Rabiot has also been passed fit enough to travel after Tuchel initially doubted his participation, while Juan Bernat is back after being rested for the win over Reims.

However, Julian Draxler, Thomas Meunier and Colin Dagba did not make the cut. The Germany international is suffering from a right knee issue, while the Belgian has a problem with his right toe and the youth academy graduate hurt his hamstring against Reims in midweek.

Despite Draxler and Meunier’s absences, Tuchel has star men Mbappe, Edinson Cavani and Neymar available to him, although the former Dortmund boss is expected to rest the Uruguay international ahead of next week’s return to Champions League action.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who spoke with the press alongside Tuchel on Friday, is in line to start if Cavani is given a breather.

Otherwise, the inclusion of a third goalkeeper in the form of youth academy product Garissone Innocent suggests that Gianluigi Buffon or Alphonse Areola could miss out.

The France international is expected to start with Buffon suspended for next week’s Champions League clash with Red Star Belgrade.

Lassana Diarra is working his way back to fitness, while Dani Alves and Layvin Kurzawa are also on the road to recovery — albeit a bit further away from a return date.
