LeBron adds female coach drama to TV portfolio

NBA

LeBron James‘ production company has landed another deal with NBC for a TV show called “Hoops” about a female coach of a men’s college basketball team.

The deal, reported by Deadline and Variety, includes “a script commitment plus penalty” for the drama from veteran screenwriter Jennifer Cecil.

The show will be produced by James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Entertainment, Brownstone Productions and Warner Bros. Television, where SpringHill and Brownstone are housed.

Word of the deal comes four days after news of an NBC commitment for SpringHill’s “Brotherly Love” single-camera comedy, a project for which Philadelphia 76ers guard and reigning rookie of the year Ben Simmons will also take part.

SpringHill announced plans for its first feature-length narrative film in February — a remake of the 1990s hit “House Party” — while the company’s TV portfolio has been rapidly expanding, including a list of projects highlighted by current NBC competition show “The Wall.”
