A light heavyweight matchup between former title challenger Volkan Oezdemir and Anthony Smith is set to headline a UFC Fight Night event on Oct. 27 in Canada.

UFC officials announced the 205-pound matchup on Thursday. The event will take place at Moncton Events Centre in Moncton, New Brunswick.

Oezdemir (15-2), of Switzerland, was supposed to fight Mauricio “Shogun” Rua last month, but he was pulled from the card in favor of a matchup against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 227 this weekend in Los Angeles. That fight also fell through, however, when Oezdemir suffered an injury in camp.

Oezdemir has not fought since he suffered a TKO loss to Daniel Cormier in a light heavyweight title bout in January.

Smith (30-13) is roaring up the 205-pound rankings, with back-to-back stoppages against former champions Rashad Evans and Rua. A former middleweight, Smith is 5-2 overall in the UFC.
