Chiefs’ Clyde Edwards-Helaire breaks out for TD run in stellar debut

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire made his NFL debut a memorable one by scoring a touchdown on a 27-yard run in the third quarter of Thursday night’s season opener against the Houston Texans. The play put the Chiefs ahead 24-7.

It also put Edwards-Helaire, the Chiefs’ first-round draft pick, over 100 rushing yards in his first professional game. Per ESPN Stats & Information, Edwards-Helaire is the fastest player to 100 rush yards (took him 34 minutes of game time) in an NFL debut since Matt Forte in 2008.
