Rodgers plans to play after ‘good news’ on scans

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said Tuesday on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he plans on playing Sunday against the Chicago Bears after getting positive news on test results for his rib injury.

“I got good news with the scans yesterday, so I plan on playing this week,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers, who left Sunday night’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the third quarter because of pain and trouble breathing, underwent additional tests on Monday. Coach Matt LaFleur was vague on the results Monday when he met with the media but said Rodgers would play if he was able.

Rodgers also is playing with a broken thumb on his throwing hand, an injury he suffered in Week 5 against the New York Giants in London.

Rodgers completed 11 of 16 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions before departing the Packers’ 40-33 loss to the Eagles. Jordan Love replaced him in the game and in two drives went 6-of-9 for 113 yards and a touchdown with the Packers totaling 10 points while he was at the helm.

ESPN’s Rob Demovsky contributed to this report.
